Foster's Release aka Judson’s Release from 1971 is a 14 minute student film shot on 16mm by Terence Winkless and written by Alec Lorimore.
In it for the first time a young babysitter is terrorized by a caller and eventually she realizes that the calls are coming from inside the house. It precedes Black Christmas (1974), The Sitter (1977), When a Stranger Calls (1979), etc.
Dan O'Bannon played the killer.
It had a small run from Pyramid Films as an educational film for babysitting awareness: “Kids, be sure to lock the door!”
It was screened by the USC Library in 2014 and 2020 as part of an 80 minute compilation of USC horror shorts.
