Continued from PART 1.
For 8 gloomy years I roamed and scavenged the wasteland. Then, finally, I saw a beacon of bright light. I made my way towards it avoiding motorcycle gangs and mutant cannibals to finally reach it and discover its source: the community chats of the Video Archives Podcast.
That’s the podcast run by Quentin Tarantino, Roger Avary, and Gala Avary. If you know who they are, you probably know what movies influenced their filmmaking, and what movies they tend to recommend. And that, my friends, is key.
If you, like me, enjoy the little known movies they’ve been recommending since the mid-1990s, then you too will follow that beacon. Hundreds of thousands of similar-minded movie buffs already follow that podcast and you’ll find a few hundred kindred spirits in the community chats. For now the numbers in the chats aren’t huge, but are growing steadily.
So far the podcasts have been audio only, but they just published their first videos this week, from a live event that took place on 1st April. You can watch part 1 for free. Incidentally my audience question about bootleg VHS tapes at their old rental store was selected - you can see their hilarious answer at 6:05 of part 2. According to Variety that answer was a highlight of the show so have a listen ;)
In the meantime, I will see you in the community chats.
