About

I was a latchkey kid who spent way too much time in front of the TV. The only upside was the sheer amount of movies and TV series I watched at a young age. By the time I was 13 years old in the mid-90s, I was already known as a film nerd and renting every tape I could find by Scorsese, De Palma, Coppola, Kubrick, Carpenter, Peckinpah, Cimino, you name it.  Before IMDb was around I was eating up Microsoft Cinemania and Blockbuster's Guide To Movies on CD-ROM. By my late teens I was reading books on how to write scripts. Other interests and hobbies have come (and still come) and gone (and still go), but films have persisted throughout my whole life.

Back in March of 2009, I started this movie blog just to have an online backup of my longest opinion posts on the IMDb message boards, and promptly discarded it soon after. My career started doing better. I brought a kid into this world. Life, as they say, got in the way.

I was still very active, however, on the IMDb message boards until Amazon shut them down in February 2017. Conversations on Reddit or Facebook don't cut it. Strange as it may sound, not having the IMDb boards to sink my teeth into left a sizeable hole in my enjoyment of movies as a whole. Like a sheep I started watching more and more TV series, and less and less films. This was followed by a decline in my mental health. Coincidence? I think not.

In December 2024 I joined Quentin Tarantino & Roger Avary's Video Archives Podcast on Patreon and talking to kindred spirits in its community chat groups reignited my passion for film. I found myself watching more movies and even writing for the first time in over a decade. And here we are today.

Hope you enjoy my babblings.
