In the late 90s I downloaded a ton of Ennio Morricone mp3z from Napster. One of them was "Ennio Morricone - Condor.mp3" an incredibly beautiful composition with pan flute. Must be the soundtrack for John Guillermin's western El Condor (1970), I thought, without double-checking anything.
Years later I'm watching Kill Bill: Vol 1 at the cinema and the song plays during the Hattori Hanzo sequence. You know, the scene in which he tells The Bride with no ego, that that's his finest sword? Love that part.
I pre-order the Kill Bill OST. I open the package as soon as it arrives, and I'm royally pissed off that Condor is not on it. Toss it aside. A few days later I've cooled off so I play the CD in the car and 14 tracks in that very song starts playing. WTF? I stop the car and check the box.
It says "Lonely Shepherd by Gheorghe Zamfir." For 4 long years I thought it was a Morricone song because someone on Napster misnamed it.
To this day there are still people posting it online with the wrong name!
